International Seminar for Dengue Vector Management in Lahore

An International Seminar for Dengue Vector Management was conducted on 15th March 2012 in Lahore organized by Himont Laboratories Pvt. Ltd., the distributor for MOUSTICIDE in Pakistan, and participated by EntoGenex Industries. The event was attended by Dr Saeed Elahi (Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Punjab on Health Affairs), officials from Public Heath department, Vector Control agencies, representatives from WHO in Pakistan, academicians and the general public who were there to learn about the effective and environmentally friendly dengue control approach based on MOUSTICIDE.

MOUSTICIDE products which are highly effective mosquito larvicides with long-lasting effect is target-specific on mosquitoes, non-toxic to non-target species and environmentally friendly. MOUSTICIDE can be the answer to the dengue problems in Pakistan and avoid the repeat of a similar dengue outbreak as seen in the country in 2011.

The R.E.A.P. social initiative, which is the brainchild of H.R.H. Tunku Naquiyuddin (the Chairman of EntoGenex), was also shared with the audiences as a community engagement initiative to complement dengue control activities. Aedes mosquitoes, the dengue vector, are typically found breeding within household compounds. As such, good waste disposal habits and frequent cleaning of household compounds can contribute significantly to dengue prevention. As a community engagement program, the R.E.A.P. initiative, can help educate and improve awareness on dengue and empower the community to play a bigger role in dengue prevention.

Through the seminar, EntoGenex and Himont, aims to introduce MOUSTICIDE as a more effective and safer approach to controlling dengue and other mosquito-borne disease and as an alternative to toxic chemicals currently used in the market.
